The Arizona Home Where Savannah Guthrie’s Mother, Nancy, Vanished: Property Value and Key Details

As Savannah later recalled, “Faith was so woven into our daily lives, we liked to say that God was the sixth member of the Guthrie family.”

Her father, Charles, was the kind of man people gravitated toward. Savannah described him as “a 5,000-watt bulb who could turn a mundane trip to the post office into a rip-roaring tale.”

He was tall, funny, and fiercely principled — a man with, in Savannah’s words, “an unbending notion of right and wrong.”

One ordinary afternoon, he met Savannah at the door after school with four words: “Let’s go fly a kite!” They spent the rest of the day running through a field, the kite soaring high above them.

The Loss That Changed Everything

Then, two days after her sister’s high school graduation in 1988, Charles Guthrie died suddenly of a heart attack. Savannah was 16. The family lost him without warning, and the home that had held so much joy now held grief too.

Nancy went to work to support the family. Each evening when she came home, Savannah recalled, “it was all I could do not to cling to her like a little girl, as if to make sure I wouldn’t lose her too.” The house, and Nancy’s presence in it, became something Savannah held onto fiercely.

Beautiful and Completely Dark

The Catalina Foothills is known for dramatic desert scenery and upscale properties carved into the terrain. What it is not known for is visibility after dark.

KGUN 9 reported live from the neighborhood shortly after Nancy’s disappearance:

“It is very dark, guys… There are just no street lights in this neighborhood, not even on Campbell before turning into the neighborhood. So just to paint you that picture of how there really isn’t much light out here.”

For a home sitting on an acre of land, far from city infrastructure, that darkness is total.

The Best Part About Tucson

Just months before the abduction, in November 2025, Savannah returned to Tucson for a “Today” segment, visiting the city she grew up in, with her mother and older sister, Annie, beside her.

She was candid about what the trip meant to her: “I’m emotional about it. I’m very proud of Tucson. I think it’s an absolutely stunning and unique place to be from, and I’m really proud of it, so this has just been a joy.”

The three had lunch at El Charro, a beloved local Mexican restaurant, and the mood was warm and celebratory. On camera, Savannah asked Nancy what had made her stay in Tucson for so many years. Nancy’s answer was simple and full of affection:

“It’s so wonderful. The air. The quality of life. It’s laid back and gentle. I like to watch the havalinas and eat my plants.”

The room broke into laughter. Savannah placed her hand on her mother’s shoulder and told her, “The best part about Tucson is coming home with you guys.” Nancy cheered, “Yes!” They raised their glasses and said “Love you” in unison.

The Segment That Now Haunts Viewers

After Nancy vanished, thousands of viewers went back to that November video, and what they found unsettled them. The comments on the YouTube upload say what many were thinking.

“Does anyone else think it’s eerie that Today did this segment two months ago in Tucson and now Savannah’s mother is missing?”

“FBI needs to investigate this segment and look into everything and everyone involved. This is not a coincidence that this segment aired and then 3 months later her mom is kidnapped!”

“This video could have been the jumping point for the abductors. Wow. So sad.”

“I think this is where it all started.”

A Crime Scene

Nancy was last seen at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2026. Authorities confirmed she did not leave on her own. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters:

“We believe now, after we process that crime scene, that we do, in fact, have a crime scene, that we do, in fact, have a crime, and we’re asking the community’s help.”

The home the Guthrie family bought for $85,000 — the one Nancy almost sold, then chose to keep, the one Savannah calls the best part of coming home — is now surrounded by crime scene tape, sheriff’s deputies, and a makeshift memorial growing steadily at its entrance.
