Robert’s consulting business collapsed within a month. Without Liam’s rising star to anchor his fake prestige, and with the rumors of the Hollis Group’s blacklisting circulating through the corporate grapevine, his clients vanished. The bank foreclosed on their house.
Eleanor moved into a small, one-bedroom apartment on the outskirts of Atlanta. She sent me a letter six months later, begging for forgiveness. I put it in a shredder unread. Forgiveness is a bridge, and I had burned the blueprints.
